Steve, that was Jorge, I saw you two are in a good fight

Opss..I tought it was you. :P
However a good fight!

No problem for the disconnection...the "short race" was really funny and I was in a good position considering that it was my first DRM online race.
The Capri is a sort of "Fiesta" with larger tyres and some HP in addiction: it has a "true" behavior and it's quite easy to push to the limit.
It would be a nice car for a shopping day in "via Montenapoleone" in Milan. :D

I hope we can try the "fixed setup" option for another MOD in the future (maybe in one time events) . As I said in the other post it's a good way to "touch" the real difference in driving skills between me and the fastest drivers without filters.

Keep calm and wait the chequered flag...

I have mixed feelings about fixed setups :)

I really screwed up during the race. First I had a great start got into second for about a millisecond as I sailed on through and off the track in a trail of smoke. Then in a very clumsy event I went into the side of Murat and made him roll. That was crap driving which I've already apologised for.

Fixed setups. From what I saw it did absolutely nothing to mix the field up. All the same drivers were at the front of the field. It would be better for drivers to learn how to setup their cars. There are very few online events that use fixed setups. Always happy to help and give out setups. Perhaps a better approach and I know this has already been done in previous events here is to provide some different setups e.g. fast setup or stable setup. I'm afraid the only way to get faster is to practice, practice, practice.

I hate this track :(

Atleast BMW doesn't have very many setup options to play with. And those available options doesn't really affect to lap times in short run. They can help to save tyre wear. If carrying weight "penalty" it can affect to result, or not.
However about mixing the field.. Looking back to previous races lap times graph, slower drivers tend to have much more disorientation between lap times and thats where big differences are. There is no point to play with setups if lap times are not constant. These cars are ok to drive with orginal setup. I think that only more experienced drivers will gain advantage with free setups.

I admit that I have wrong "tribal convinctions" about setup. :P
I always hope to change a little parameter and gain 2 seconds thanks to the intervention of " gods of speed".
I know that's a wrong way of thinking and I have worked to correct this way of thinking.
In my first experiences I used to change every parameter up and down, and obtained only a result: total mess!
Seriously speaking my lack of knowledge is about the chassis parameters (camber, ride height, caster), while for the other values I am quite "expert".

Paul, I know that there's nothing better than practice, and for this reason I have decided to focus just on Simracers events, so I can work on a single car every week and avoid "sideral jumps from Ford Capri group 5 to Renault Clio Cup.
Furthermore, a fundamental value for me, here I have found great sportmanship and kindly persons who give me pleasent experiencies of racing online.

However I take in consideration your offer to share setups for the hard-times. :)

This approach helped me at R2P. I was doing far too many events and not really practicing for any. Hope you begin to find that speed :)

I've discovered one thing which I will call a bug of the mod so I feel like sharing. The setup option "weight distribution" seems to be working incorrect. We know rear end of the car is easily loose when applying bit more gas on traction. I distrubuted the weight full to the front of the car for a safe and stable ride (52 - 48) but it made my rear end even easier to loose. I've desperately tried the opposite way (48.5 - 51.5) and surprisingly it worked out.

This could be a "must keep in mind" info for especially frontrunners when weight penalties come into play.

As I properly understood "weight distribution" made by you: if you put all the weight to the front in rear drive (RWD) car - this affects (for me) the rear wheels are more "slippy". If you put more to the rear - it naturally causes more downforce to the rear drive and affects with less "slippy" car. Am I wrong?

My experience: Weight to the front = More slippy rear tires
