I'm at home now. I made a contact with Jorge's adviced server provider and it looks promising. 20 EUR monthly for one server is ok for me. I can pay for it. Now I must contact Davie, my "technical friend" to make it alive. It can take a little time but it's a good solution for us to have rF1 and rF2 stable working.

@Allan

Thxs for trying. I will remove password for now, just for testing purposes. I don't have experience setting up game servers, so we have to figure it out as we go.

It's curious not accepting password, because, as I mentioned, here in my house I am only able to join through the LAN option with the private IP adress. But after clicking the join button, I am asked the password and it is accepted... therefore I don't have a clue why Allan couldn't join. Long shot: must be normal keys (hgt), not capitals (HGT).

Anyway, if anyone has the tme, I'd appreciate if you could tell me if it's possible to join and any other info you find relevant.

Thxs Paul.

Ok, next step firewall off to see if we can isolate the problem

I've set a Dynamic IP adress, to make possible trying to join by LAN adress like we did sometimes with our server when lobby was down. There are 2 posibilities:

simracers.ddns.net

or

simracers.ddns.net:34447

I think I found the problem, and hopefuly fix it.

I think what happened was: according to the rFactor dedicated server manual, I had to map some ports in my router, redirecting them to the laptop where the server is running. I did this on a wifi connection, but now I am using a cable connection. So, these ports were mapped to the private ip of the wifi connection at the same time I was using a cable connection. I've just corrected the port mapping in the router, now the necessary ports are redirected to the correct ip adress.

I believe that now it should be possible to join normally through lobby, but in case it isn't please try the 2 other options from my last post. Thxs guys, and sorry for the time I made you waste.

simracers.ddns.net

or

simracers.ddns.net:34447

I'd say it's working fine now. I'm just not 100% sure because I need that someone else joins through the lobby.

I've set the password (hgt) again, because now I'm finally able to join through the lobby with password request without any problem.

I forgot to say the main problem with setting up rF server is port forwarding. If you have static IP it's ok. If you have dynamic IP there is a problem and you must ask internet provider, etc.

Just tried the server and got on with no problems. My best ping was 75ms which I think is OK. :)
