Just paid for own dedicated server - 20 EUR monthly. Not bad. They have 2 days to prepare it. I think we can be ready for this Sunday. Please use Antonio's server at the moment.

If I'm correct it's very simple in fact. In the manual it says you can set a LAN server (local network), an Internet server and a Internet + LAN server. However, in the port forwarding tables, there are only 2 configurations:

Table 2.1 Ports required for successfully hosting LAN races

Port Number - Transport - Description
34447 - TCP - Session, Race and Chat Information
34297 - UDP - LAN Query Information
34397 - UDP - Race Event Information

If want to host the game only over the Internet you only need to open up the ports in Table 2.2.

Table 2.2 Ports required for successfully hosting Internet only races

Port Number -Transport - Description
34447 -TCP Session, - Race and Chat Information
34397 - UDP - Race Event Information

I used all 3 values from table 2.1, thinking it would cover more ground: Internet and my home network. After some mismatches with the IP adresses of the wifi and cable network cards, I still couldn't join. Port numbers were correct and forwarded to the right private IP adress in my local (home) network - the IP adress of the cabled network card, firewall was disbled allowing all traffic, I even set a DMZ on the router for the server to connect directly to the internet, instead of beeing behind the router.
Stll nothing, always time out.
At this point I decided to follow the manual in a more rigorous way: if it says that for internet hosting these 2 ports are necessary, then I remove the third, that was there because I thought it would make no harm... well, it did. As soon as I removed in teh route the forwarding of port 34297 UDP (LAN query), I was able to join right away. Further testing was to disable DMZ, and all goood still, enable the windows firewall configured to allow traffic in the necessary ports, and yet all good.

I'll leave it running until our new official server is up. If someone wishes any particular track / cat combo, just ask here and I'll be glad to load it, as well as any prefered sessions format.

If finally, the chosen option would be the "20€/m french server"; I suggest to set a way in order than we can "donate" some money... at least for the first months.... (Set up a new server will cost an adicional month (aprox 20€)

Costs are:
20 EUR monthly
5 EUR for setting up the server with Windows (just once paid)

I think I can make it monthly alone but then you MUST race every event, haha!
If I won't have anything to eat then you can donate the server.

Server is up and it's in lobby. Now it's on alongside with Antonio's server. Original Simracers server is without password at the moment. Please enjoy!

Good news: we can set rFactor 2 too. :)

Great news, I'll shut down the other and keep it on standby in case it will be needed for some reason in the future.

rFactor 2 alonside is great also, but I'm not too sure I'll be able to run it on my PC with the settings I'd like (not maximum visuals, but something around a little over medium, enoughh to have decent graphics combined with a safe FPS rate on any track.), that's why I ask:
Have you guys considered Automobilista? I have both rFactor 2 and Automobilista on Steam, and Automobilista is close to rFactor 2 in graphics quality, has an excelent FFB, and its quite less demanding on hardware requirements...
I have triple 24'' screens, and although my CPU/RAM/VGA are still up to date, I've seen that on rFactor 2 my hardware is just not enough to use normal resolutions with medium graphic settings.
So, any particular reason not to consider Automobilista?

Marek please allow a single driver to advance sessions on the server. As it is, 2 votes are necessary to advance sessions or restart weekend. In case there is only one driver present, he can't use any session option, and that's not good. Example: if server advances to race, a single driver must wait for the time limit to advance and join a practice session.

Ok, thnx for the info. I'll fix it as I will be at home.

Automobilista is to consider but I don't own this game. Of course it's not a problem. :)
