Marek Archipow [Fireball] created the topic: New car selection systems proposal
According to some drivers claim I'm thinking about adjust car selection system in two different ways.

First proposal:
Opposite choice after the finished race. Drivers select their cars opposite as their finished positions.

Example:
1. Carlo
2. Othmane
3. Waler
4. Davie
5. Fireball
6. KlakieR
7. Gilles

all drivers above finished the race

8. kkacper - DNF
9. Pawel W - DNF
10. Thombike - DNF

So, the order of choice would be: Gilles, KlakieR, Fireball, Davie, Waler, Othmane, Carlo and then DNF-drivers kkacper, Pawel W, Thombike (non-opposite choice for the drivers who didn't finish)

Advantage: better drivers must take slower cars often than with the current system, closer fight between good and weak drivers
Disadvantage: we have still one week loss due the car selection (we must wait until all drivers will choose their cars)

Second proposal:
We group the list of the available cars on 4 parts.

Group 1

Williams FW07
Ligier JS11
Renault RS12
Ferrari T4
Lotus 79
Lotus 80 (it can be moved to group 2 at will)

Group 2

Renault RS11
McLaren M29
Tyrrell 009
Brabham BT49

Group 3

Brabham BT48
Wolf WR7-9
Arrows A2
Alfa Romeo 179
McLaren M28
Ferrari T3

Group 4

Arrows A1
Ensign N179
Fittipaldi F6A/F5A
Shadow Dn9
Rebaque HR100/HR79
Renault RS01
Williams FW06
ATS D2
Merzario
Ensign N177

Now, the Top3 drivers in the general classification MUST take any car from the lowest group 4.
Top4-6 drivers can take any car from group 3 or 4
Top-7-10 drivers can take any car from group 2, 3 or 4
Divers 11+ can tane ANY car from the list.

Advantage: better drivers must take slower cars often than with the curren system, closer fight between good and weak drivers
Disadvantage: no various grid (many the same cars on the grid possibility)

---

Please, write what do you think about it. We could change the system just after Buenos Aires. Only GP79 drivers can tell their opinions.

let's stick to the present system, it's very good and it allows for grid diversity......

a week of delay in car selection is not a problem, more or less you know what you will be driving. The difference in the V8 handling is minimal. The only cars which need any adaptation are the turbos, the alfas and the ferrari. But these are usually taken by the first best drivers anyway, and even if you drive the first week in any car and put your heart in it, it is easy to switch to another, and you still have 2 weeks to get prepared... (notice the long beach selection did not even take a week)

I think you are causing a storm over something that works superbly now...

I am against

PS
a new system won't make our grid closer, if you want closer gaps in the race, tell people to practise more and give them time.... the league is new, a lot of people are new to the mod.. give them time to adjust and to learn...

Changing the system is more than welcome, I lean toward second option.
I guess we got two group of drivers:
1st wants to have same car (constructor) for whole season,
2nd wants to change cars during season.

Finding a good compromise would be perfect solution. Until now, I noticed drivers select from 2 type of cars:
a)"good top speed cars" on fast tracks and
b)"still good but low on car list so I get good selection position" on slow tracks

My proposal, adjustment would be: every driver chooses 2 cars for whole season-fast car for fast tracks and slow car for slower tracks. (for example-Renault for fast track and Fittipaldi for slow track). But to avoid best drivers from taking combination Renault RS12-Williams FW07 or Ferrari-Lieger, we make 2 group of cars: top cars and slower cars. Every driver now chooses one car from each group. Driver doesn't have to choose 2 cars, he can stay with 1 all races.

I think there are enough car models for all of us?

you missed still one group

C) drivers who don't find the present system limiting. Of course there is a limit but it is not the system's fault that I can't drive the best car all the time, this is rather the case of my OWN TALENT and DRIVING ABILITIES which are not system RELATED.

And with the present system, if you manage your progression wisely - you can actually be a bad driver and have the best cars all the time - the clear example of such a driver is UROS!!

Sometimes you must accept the fact that your are just worse than the other drivers, some children don't understand it and that's why they create stupid associations like you did....

Why don't you like the best drivers? Is there something wrong with them? More often then not their driving skills are the effect of training hard so why punish someone with the worse car only because they sacrifice so much time to their hobby or they are just good???

If anything changes this season then I will form another Association - the association of people leaving this league....

Enjoy it without me... :cheer:

I can't even comment your arguments because you move from intelligent facts into private attacks, and that is not constructive.
Fact is that system will change, with you or without you.
With system like this league will lose drivers and quality anyways, why not making it better since there is giant room for improvement.

I was constructive in my arguments long enough...

Fact is that system will change, with you or without you.

I am not a child as you so I don't care... I need a fair choice and I want to be among serious people and not complaing and pretentious bunch which forms some stupid self supporting groups to force through their convictions..

How many GP79 leagues have you attended so far?? Drive here and there.... observe and learn a bit, you will see the system is not bad and because of this system, it is the best.. and I can understand the sense of improvement, but will never understand the need for copying the solutions I have already tried and did not like..

As long as I can drive a Renault any system is good, although I appreciate your commitment to find a "fair" system

As long as I won't know the opinion of the other drivers it won't be any change in the current system.
