Hi guys, we have been considering the teams for the upcoming V8 series.

With relatively few entrants from Mara and Simracers, combined with the interest shown by a few drivers at EOAA we would like to consider making the series up with three teams with a max of 9 drivers each.

The three teams would be Flatoutclub, Core Racing and a Privateers class.

The Privateers class would be open to all drivers from Mara-E, Simracers.pl and EOAA to a maximum team of nine.
Each driver would still hold the identity of their club through sign in for the races, race commentary and possibly with a .plr name change to include your club name or tag in the race report.

We could make a passworded section on the FO forum for you guys to post together privately allowing drivers to work together across clubs as a team and mount a combined challenge on Flatout and Core.

With around three or four drivers from each club showing an interest this seems a good solution and if Flatout and Core manage to enter 7 or more drivers each race we should have nice grids for each round, all with a chance of decent points.

This is going out to all three clubs and your thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Below is a reply to Clive from Mara when he responded to the same post as above with concerns about how drivers would be picked to race, number of drivers in a combined team, not getting a race after loads practice if team is full and my overall thoughts on prefering to stay with a 4 team event.

We need feedback guys to see how to move forward, thanks.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I agree that doing two weeks of practice to then not have a grid slot would be frustrating.
It would be a case of you guys initially posting in your private section who wants to race and work out a team between you.
Doing it on fastest laps isn't usually the best way as this means the same few guys always hit the cut, it's a lot better to base it on eagerness, like who puts their name up first, sticks in tons of practice and approaches it in the proper manner.
We would also ideally need someone to take on the role as team representative to help organize this within the class and also to take part in helping with steward duties in the case of on track race incidents.

All this said, we would much rather see Mara and Simracers put forward a team of 7 each, your drivers list looks promising there Clive. (6 possible drivers)
Simracers have perhaps 4 who have shown interest.
Ari from EOAA is also a member of Simracers and if they combined efforts could maybe manage 6 or 7 drivers too.

In reality though we need to look at the likelihood of this being the case, I have had very little feedback on behalf of EOAA, only 3 or 4 simracers getting involved and Mara being under pressure to find 7 regular drivers, meanwhile we need to find a solution to allow an announcement to be made soon.

If we thought Mara could manage 5 drivers and over for the seven races and the same with Simracers we could stick with 4 teams but to risk 2 or 3 entrants per team would create issues with the points system as well as leaving the clubs in a non competitive position.

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts here.

Thanks again.

Please note that Bart over in Mara has since offered to create a private place for a combined team to keep in touch, this would keep the privateers class clear of any FO involvement and would allow you to act independently.

A decision will have to be made in the next couple of days, it is really up to you guys, if you feel you are able to commit to a Simracers team of 5 or more drivers for the series then post your thoughts here.

So far it's not looking great for four teams at the moment I'm afraid and I can only ask the same question so many times before I need to assume that the numbers are to low for independent teams.

Hi all,

The time has come to announce the inter-club V8 championship starting next week on Wed 10/10/12

This series is open to all members of Flatoutclub, Core Racing, Mara Europe and Simracers.pl

Teams will be limited to 7 drivers per club with reserve drivers getting a grid slot where total entrant numbers allow (MAX 28 Drivers)

Following 2 successful test races and after looking at the best way forward for teams we are ready to go.

The mod is the wonderful ORSM V8 unleashed 2011 V1.1

www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cf ... 0Unleashed
or
www.virtualr.net/v8factor-unleashed-1-1-released

The series will see us race on 7 great European tracks with Andy Roberts dealing with the race broadcast for each round. (all being well)

Track pack here:http://www.flatoutclub.com/download/doc_download/679-trackpack-v8-interclub-champ-v2-1.html (PLEASE USE THIS TRACKPACK VERSION) previous version had a .gdb file error sorry.

Feel free to add your own club skins, just pass on the files for everyone to use.

The points system is as follows:

Club points will be awarded (if gained by finish place of course) up to the maximum of 7 drivers per team (reserve drivers can race if grid numbers allow but no points will be awarded, reserve drivers who replace an absent signed in driver WOULD be eligible for points)

In the case of a club entering a team with less than 7 drivers, Club points will be awarded to the same number of members of each club to a maximum of the lowest number of members taking part from each club.
However, this number will be capped to 5 as the lowest number.

Example : Core have 7, Flatout have 4, Simracers and Mara have 6, Club points would only be totaled from the best 5 from each club.

Points will be awarded down to 15th place:

1st : 25 points
2nd : 20 points
3rd : 18 points
4th : 16 points
5th : 14 points
6th : 12 points
7th : 10 points
8th : 8 points
9th : 7 points
10th: 6 points
11th: 5 points
12th: 4 points
13th: 3 points
14th: 2 points
15th: 1 point

These points will be awarded on completion of race distance only.

Track cutting is always a difficult issue - there are many opinions and real life tracks allow cutting to different degrees at different parts of the track.

We ask all drivers to observe these guidelines

Corner Cutting
•The race circuit is clearly defined by the white lines either side on the track on the edge.
•Intentionally cutting corners to gain a time advantage is not permitted.
•Cutting a corner persistently will encore penalties.
•You must attempt to keep at least 1 wheel within the white lines to be counted as on the track.

FIA – RULES (Basics for the Corner-Cutting-Rules)
•“Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not.”
•“A driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track.”
•“Should a car leave the track for any reason the driver may rejoin. However, this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any advantage.”

We ask that all drivers race in a fair and gentlemanly manor, if you feel you caused an incident and choose to wait for another driver, please ensure it is safe to do so.

Reports or complaints of any race incidents must be submitted to Flatout admin accompanied by video evidence within 5 days from where two members of each team will be asked to vote on whether a penalty is due then on the severity of the penalty, this is one feature we hope not to use, in previous series the action has been hot but always fair.

Anyone intrested here?

Robert if you still want to race but feel the lack of team mates makes it difficult to take part, please still feel free to get involved as you would be most welcome no matter what number of entrants Simracers can manage.

For everyone else, if it's this mod that's putting you off, we will be using something else next time so watch this space.
