Fun races - Am I alone on this?

Is there any reason for only having races one or two times each month?

Championship races are great events. But they require time, preparation, and that nothing happens that weekend that might prevent some from participating. It's frustrating when that happens.

On the other hand, and correct me if I'm wrong, it would be nive to have a larger group of drivers. It would assure that some races don't have only 4 or 5 drivers, when a few signed drivers doesn't show up, and more competition and close racing oportunities for a larger groupo of drivers.

So, why not have a fun race each weekend? With the same or different cars and tracks from the official competitions, with less laps, perhaps with 2x 15 or 20 minutes each race?

Why not a fun race in the middle of each week? Every wednesday night?

We have raced this year almost every sunday with F1 1979 and HGT. We had less races lately because Marek's issues but we have planned to race every week in December after this week.

10.12.2017 DRM Trophy - Round 3
17.12.2017 - Classic F1 - Round 1
23.12.2017*** - HGT - Round 1
30.12.2017*** - Classic F1 - Round 2
07.01.2018 - HGT - Round 2
14.01.2018 - Classic F1 - Round 3
21.01.2018 - HGT - Round 3
28.01.2018 - Classic F1
04.02.2018 - HGT - Round 4
18.02.2018 - HGT - Round 5
25.02.2018 - HGT - Round 6

For me racing requires practice so 1 week or 2 of practice before the event is OK.
Race day in weekends is the best solution to have people from outside Europe.
I am in server in Sundays at 19:00 (CET time) when there is no race to have a 5 laps mini race.

P1: 2017 1st DRM Trophy. Ford
P1: 2015 R2P S37 Steel Wheels by Simracers 1979 Formula 1. Ligier-Ford Cosworth
P2: 2014 R2P S33 True Power by Simracers Grand Prix 1979. Tyrrell-Ford Cosworth
P2: 2012 GP1979 Season 3. Tyrrell-Ford Cosworth / Arrows-Ford Cosworth
P3: 2018 3rd Historic GT Season.

Antonio, we had 39 races in thin year which means each week we were busy with the wheel. As Aitor wrote and you know from private talk, I had (and still have) "force majeure" issues, so some Sundays were off. I always asked drivers to make such a fun race or something. It wasn't done in enthusiastic way - only few drivers took part, etc.

The idea of current (inside the week) server settings is to perform short 5-laps races as we meet online with 3 or more persons. If you want me to set 20 minutes instead 5 laps - just ask for it.

I like huge grids but it's almost impossible to have 10+ drivers each day on server. Even big leagues don't have it. The difference between some drivers and me is: I have practiced for Anderstorp just 10 laps before the race and I took part and pick up 2nd - other drivers join the server in the week and they are absent in the main event. For me, I'd rather want to have more drivers in the main event than big movement between the races on server. I think it's not a big task to run or practice up to 2 h per one or two weeks (including entire race time). As the event hour is closer and closer, I start to think only about incoming race, it's important thing to me and gives me positive vibes. B)

Yes, but that calendar would be great if we could have one race each week during all year. I understand that for championships and trophees drivers need to be well preparared, especially for not ruining the race of other drivers that invested a lot of hours preparing such a race.

But fun races are different. They don't count to championship or trophees, and it's not necessary, I think, that everybody takes part. They are, as thename says, for fun. An opportunity for someone that missed a championship event to have some fun in the next days, for example.
Many of us know a very large number of tracks, and in that case it's just adapating the driving of the car to a known track.

And a 2x 10 or 15 laps formula seems perfect to me. A second race is a second opprtunity for something that goes wrong in the first 4 or 5 drivers are enough to have some fun after dinner.

The calendar is one thing, but the fact is that I don't join a race for maybe 2 months. I miss racing, and while waiting for the next DRM, I wouldn't mind to have 2 or 3 opportunities each week to have some fun in a different, more relaxed event. And by relaxed I don't mean with flexible rules - I believe they should be the same weather it's a fun or championship race. Drive correctly and beeing fair is paramount. In fact, I prefer not to race than mixing with rammers and noobs on any track.

[EDIT] - p.s. - in fact, that last sentence goes without saying. After all, that's the reason I'm here.. ;-)

I think Simracers offers racing without rammers. We are too old for this. If you want to make fun races, just find some drivers and make it, I can set any race type you want.

The problem is: when it's 10 drivers in the event, hard to find at least 3 or 5 to funrace. All leagues have the same problem.
